Christmas street markets in this bohemian city

Although the capital of the Czech Republic is always a great choice for a weekend getaway, it’s in December that Prague truly comes to life with a festive atmosphere that you’re bound to love.

Prague is the city of a thousand flea markets. Here’s a list of the best-known three:

  1. 1. THE TYPICAL MARKET: The city’s largest Christmas street market is to be found in the Old Town Square of Prague. Dozens of stalls catering to all tastes include hot dogs and hot wine too, to get your strength back; wooden toys, pottery ware and glass and jewellery craftwork also abound. Concerts and musical events featuring the latest hits are also held in the Old Town Square
  2. 2. THE OTHER MARKET: The other most typical market in Prague is on Wenceslas Square. The little stalls that surround the great Christmas tree are right opposite the National Museum and what’s more, they all stay open until midnight
  3. 3. THE TRADITIONAL MARKET: Located in Prague’s Republic Square, this market has the most traditional decorations and goodies: mistletoe, crowns, candles, and delicious cakes and sweets with which to celebrate a family Christmas and New Year.

We’ve only mentioned three markets, but actually you’ll find wooden stalls, Nativity scenes and choir singers singing carols every 50 yards on the streets of Prague.
